Frequently Asked Questions

1. How many characters can we have?
You can start with 3 characters. We don't have any character limits, but after you make 3 characters, you'll have to request from staff to make any more. As for Prisma characters, we're allowing 2 characters, but again, it's a soft cap, so you can make more as long as you talk to staff about it.

2. Can my character be a trainer/contestant/ranger/breeder/etc.?
The thing about Oasis Cay is that the Pokemon have only just been reintroduced to the population fairly recently! Your character can test out all of them and gain skills from all the trades or they can later dedicate themselves to one of them. Otherwise, you start as a 'trainer' that's learning about the many different aspects of Pokemon.

3. How many Pokemon can we start with?
You start with 1 Pokemon, though there are special exceptions if the Pokemon generally come in a pair with each other, such as Plusle and Minun.

4. What Pokemon can we start with?
Though most Pokemon are generally allowed, please make sure they're a first evolution. Pokemon that are fully evolved (unless they only have one stage) will not be allowed to start with, especially considering the Pokemon are starting at Level 5. Fossil Pokemon such as Amaura or Lileep are not available to start with.

No, you may not start with Pikachu. If you would like to have one, please start with Pichu first. This is because having a Pikachu and then accessing a Thunderstone can quickly give you a third-stage right off the bat, and that's not exactly fair.

Please note that you can't start with the same starter as someone else if there's already been 3 people who started with that Pokemon. You can obtain that 'starter' later on, but you'll have to start with a different Pokemon if another trainer has chosen yours already. Sorry about that.

5. What Pokemon are available to obtain?
Later on, you can obtain basically any other Pokemon as the Reservation expands, and we've given the okay to catch more. Oasis Cay has an extremely varied amount of environments and areas, all perfect for practically any natural habitat that the Pokemon would need to survive. As a result, Pokemon from any generation and any place can basically be obtained, except legendaries, Ultra Beasts, Type: Null, and fossil Pokemon.

6. Are legendaries ever going to be available? What about Ultra Beasts? Type: Null? Fossil Pokemon?
Legendaries will be available eventually, but not in the near future. It'll be plot-relevant, and it'll generally be restricted to one legendary per trainer, if you manage to grab one. Ultra Beasts will be like legendaries in that regard, though that's once we manage to tie in the Ultra Wormhole to the site. As for Type: Null, they'll be available as an event in the distant future. Fossil Pokemon will be given out every now and then at the Reservation once they manage to revive the fossils, so don't worry! All of these will be available at one point or another.

7. What about Z-moves and Mega Evolution?
Yes, we'll have these eventually. Z-crystals will be given out occasionally, along with mega stones, but don't expect them coming any time soon. The most common place to find them will generally be through Challenges, but mega stones can be found in the wild.

8. Can my character come from a different place outside of the Oasis Cay?
They can, but these are very rare instances since Oasis Cay is in a pretty isolated area in regards to the rest of the globe, never mind a place that is considered cursed and shunned. If you'd like this, please message staff, and we'll give you the okay if you can explain why and how they came to Oasis Cay.

9. Are Alolan forms and evolutions available? How?
Like Alola, Oasis Cay is an island. So it'll be fine! If you'd want, say, an Alolan Vulpix, head up to the snowy mountains to find one. Normal Vulpix will be found elsewhere. Keep in mind what the Alolan forms' habitats would be like when you wanna go grab one, and you'll be able to obtain one. In the case of a Pokemon like Alolan Raichu, just smack that Thunderstone on your Pikachu at the beach; that'll give you the Alolan form rather than normal Raichu.

10. How canon are anime-included features like Aura Guardians or the Temple of the Sea? Spin-off games? The manga?
Well, for starters, aura guardians are canon in-game (ex. Riley, who also appeared in the anime) and the plot of Temple of the Sea is very reminiscent to the tie-in story with Shadows of Almia and DPPt.

Aura Guardians still exist in the present day, but they come from overseas and are extremely rare to find; if you want to be one, please message the staff (though we aren't really accepting any more at this point in time). The Temple of the Sea (and the People of the Water) do exist here, and Manaphy and the Rangers will be a side-event in the future. Songs such as Oracion, Lugia's Song, or the lullaby featured in Jirachi Wishmaker are all songs that exist here as well. Abilities such as N's or Anabel's to sense the feelings of Pokemon are also available, though just as rare (or even rarer) than Aura Guardians; a variation of the ability similar to Sheena's from the Jewel of Life is not allowed (we're fine with taking a few more characters from here). Pokevisions (from XY[Z]) are fine, though they're not exactly trending in Oasis Cay - yet.

Anime-exclusive areas such as Alto Mare or LaRousse City can be referenced, though whether they actually exist or not is a different question. Don't make your characters from there if you want to make a character from overseas. For spin-off games, Mystery Dungeon, Rumble, PokePark, and so forth don't exist; rangers are okay, though the other ones can have vague references but may not be considered canon. Similarities to the Adventures manga are fine, but it's not canon.

We are not allowing Bond Phenomenon (Ash-Greninja) or Battle Bond, mostly because it would come into conflict with what we have planned in the future. There will be no exceptions in this regard.

Please make sure to research this stuff if you want to include them and then talk to staff about it.

11. Can my character be related to a canon character?
Please refrain from doing that. Relations such as admiring said character or wanting to be their student is fine, but nothing like actual family or their spouse or anything like that. The exception to this would be a large enough family such as the Joys or the Jennies. If you're not sure, please message a staff member.

12. How do Pokemon that evolve by happiness evolve?
In order to evolve a Pokemon that requires happiness to evolve, they must be featured in at least 10 completed topics with their trainer. It's on you to keep track of how many topics it's been.
