| Kari nodded slowly, processing this new bit of information. Honestly she was about fifty shades of surprised she even got a reply. She totally expected some snarky reply or absolutely no response at all. A small smile quirked at the corners of her mouth. Maybe he was warming up to her a tad?
Eh, probably not.
"So they send signals to the Pokémon to make it easier for them to understand you? I thought I read somewhere they transferred your feelings or something... but maybe I misremembered that." She shrugged, then sighed, "I suppose I have a long way to go on understanding anyone's feelings... Though I try to be more considerate of Pokemon in general. People are 'tards as is, not a lot to understand there."

| At the very least, she wasn't exactly wrong. The other models had previously taken the idea of transferring friendship and positive energy to a Pokemon in order to befriend them, and while the Styler worked effectively, it was a tedious and troublesome process if the Pokemon was not open to sunshine and gumdrops raining down from the sky. In a sense, it was transferring one's feelings to make them easier to communicate with... But he had to say he much preferred his current Styler over the ones he used in the past throughout the years.
Elliot almost had half the heart to give a smug, almost satisfactory look when she admitted that she had difficulty taking into consideration others' feelings - You're awful at it -, but then she had to go and say that. His frown twisted more downward, gold eyes breaking through a glare. "People aren't that simple," he deadpanned, a twitch of annoyance rushing through his arm.
Within moments, they arrived at the outskirts of the city. He didn't know where she lived (it's most definitely the city, judging by her attitude), and he never had plans to escort her all the way there. Lights shining up towards the sky, Elliot winced and quickly spun on his heel. Nope. Not getting any closer. Taking steps back into the forest, he started to leave.
No goodbyes, no see you later or don't come back. They weren't friendly or close, and he sure wasn't going to pretend otherwise.

| Kari shook her head at his response, eyes drifting off into the thinning trees. They must be getting close. For a moment she said nothing, gaze far away and lost in her own thoughts. How many times had she tried to read further into someone's actions, only for them to prove once again that they all thought on the same level? She had yet to be proven wrong, and she couldn't even claim that she was much different. Tone distant, she replied to him just as the edge of the city came within view. "All the people I've met so far have yet to show me any different. Everyone's out for themselves, no reason to expect anything else by now."
The sleeping Torchic in her arms stirred slightly as they neared civilization, but did not wake. Kari cringed slightly, memories flooding her in a rather unpleasant, all consuming way as her scarlet gaze took in the familiarity of her old home. Why had he brought her here? Ah... right, she probably didn't look like much of a country girl. Hearing receding footsteps, she turned to look at him again. In the harsh light radiating from Silene City, Kari watched as he walked away. Clearly something she had said had set him off. Again. That wasn't her intention, but then this whole night had been a series of curve balls hadn't it?
A small smile chased away the evidence of the memories lingering in her eyes, and she raised an arm to wave goodbye. She knew he wouldn't see it, but did so nonetheless. "Goodnight Elliot." The redhead turned and started to walk towards the road leading to Zinnia Town, only to pause and turn back with a huge grin. "Yo! Keep your door unlocked will ya~? Try not to miss me too much, I'll visit again soon! Can't disappoint my biggest fan after all."
And with that bit of lighthearted teasing, she started away from the city and towards the house she currently lived in.
Even after almost a year, she still couldn't bring herself to call it 'home'.
