I want a Pokemon! [Open] Empty

"Ramona, what have I told you about running off?" A much larger but soft-spoken man readjusted his glasses as he hurriedly took off behind his daughter who had her eyes set on the welcome center of the reservation ahead. It hadn't even been ten minutes since the acceptance letter had come in the mail before she was out the door and rushing her father to take her to the reservation. Now, she was jumping out of the car before it had even fully stopped and running to the front door, her face beaming as her imagination began to run wild.

"Come on, Daddy! I can't miss my Pokemon! I just can't! What if someone else takes it? I have to make sure no one steals my Pokemon!" As she reached the front door, she finally stopped long enough to see her father coming to a stop with a couple of deep breaths. Nine year olds had way too much energy.

Straightening himself out, Ramona's father took a deep breath and opened the door for his little lady, giving her a quizzical look as she skipped through the entrance. "Did the letter say which one you're getting?" he asked, wondering if he had missed that little detail in the mail.

"No, but everyone's going after it, so I gotta get it first!" Her cries seemed to ring through the large entrance as she walked up to the middle of the room. Once again, she turned to look for her father behind her, waiting with an impatient bounce for him to catch up so she could go into the reservation.

A large and heavy sigh exited his lungs as he finally caught up with Ramona, taking a quick look around. Now that the hard part was out of the way, Ramona could actually see him get a little excited about the ordeal. "Let's wait for just a second and see if there's anyone that can help us out, okay?"

With a big toothy grin, Ramona squealed and did a little dance, the backpack hanging from her shoulders bouncing around her back as she moved. "Okay, Daddy!" she giggled. She was so close to seeing her first Pokemon! Hopefully someone would show up quickly so she could get out there faster!

I want a Pokemon! [Open] Empty

Little bird, little bird with a heralding symphony of arrival, resting atop a bed of silver and a pallid face, a large bag in tow, buckled as tightly as an Ekans coiling around its prey.

It happened in an instant that would have been interesting to capture on the new-fangled photography cameras from the city.

Arms tucked and tenderly caring for a minor stack of letters and papers, before the steady, sudden flow of the early morning wind burst by, taking with them several parchments that had been so carefully written and tailored by the hands of far and few in between. A flurry of papers in a storm, dashing away as far as the eye can see, and the dusty figure carrying them had continued on his way, only for a peck on the head - a cloud of cotton from the skies above - to catch his attention.

The bundle of blue and white snatched for one of the envelopes flying through the air with an uncanny speed. Soft lashes fluttered open to realize the shifted weight, hearing the voices of orange and green, with a touch of Razz and Tamato (warming and fuzzy, wasn't it? Children were very energetic) tangling into the air, Yunnan turned his head. One of the envelopes dabbled into his features, and gently, he plucked it from there, slipping away into his bag.

Rustle, rustle... Ah, there was one. With an inaudible muted breath, he coiled his legs and sprang up a leap---

... Only to miss, light fingertips brushing against the corners even lighter in a moment too slow, leaving him to fall face first into the small of wild violets. His Swablu docked by him, a triumphant return of some of the letters, but not enough.

Boss had said those were important letters (applications of some sort? what were they again?) to bring over to the reservation.

If it was that hard to catch just one (pitiful reaction times, really), how was he going to catch them all?

Seconds ticked by. Soon, they turned into minutes, and obviously waiting longer than two minutes was just absolutely absurd! With a huff Ramona began looking around, turning on her heels and letting her long black pigtails swing around her as her face scrunched up in frustration. There were plenty of people here! How come no one looked like they worked here? "Do you see anyone yet?"

"Not yet, sweetie. Remember, we have to learn to be patient," her father said as he carefully studied the space around them.

"Right..." she grumbled in reluctant agreement. She wanted to argue that this matter couldn't wait, but she felt it wasn't worth the trouble. After another minute went by, however, she finally saw the boy not far from her as soon as the papers began flying out of his grasp. Curiously, she watched him jump after a couple before he was accompanied by a little blue bird with cotton-like wings, its beak filled with more papers while the rest flew away. Wait a second, if he had. Pokemon, he had to work here right?

Without a second thought, Ramona shifted her backpack and scurried up to the boy, quickly going to tug on his shirt to get his attention. Blissfully unaware of his predicament of getting the rest of the papers back, the small girl looked up st him with wide curious eyes and a toothy smile. "Hey! Where did you get that pokemon?" she asked, staring down the Swablu like a precious gem. "Can I get one like that? You know where to get Pokemon, don't you? Can you show me where to get mine?"

Freeze, still as a statue when the pitched melodies of a flute's (maybe it was a guitar?) voice lightly fluttered by, the warmth of the summer sun dancing across flesh and air, all bubbling underneath, with a magnetic pull towards a companion formed from the wisps of white and blue above. Yunnan mirrored her smile - not quite as wide, never much so bright, for all he could do was steal from her rays as he pulled himself up onto his feet, long braid settling as the wind drowned away. "Hmm..."

One hand received a paper falling like petals from the sky, the clean sound of the wind tugged. "You mean this little one? I suppose you'd have to enter the reservation," the young postman laughed softly, a piano quiet with an elicit range of radiation and melancholy and somberness.

A wave of his lukewarm hands towards the barren entrance, so empty and quiet, not unlike the proceeding days that had followed its opening, an opening so widely celebrated and wrung yet never dry by the news. The Swablu had stolen the opportunity to snatch back the rest of the letters, plopping them in his hands and brought back to her position as a cotton hat on his wind-ruffled and disheveled hair.

Small wrinkles as he gripped them all the more tightly, offering free fingers to the petite child to hold. "I have some deliveries to make to the professor, so if you would like, I can escort you inside." His eyes closed again as he flashed his smile to the older man, who couldn't help but have the most pleasing and natural-sounding words he had heard. "That is, if you're alright with an unremarkable piece of garbage such as myself to lead the way."

A big gasp of excitement filled her lungs at the boy's offer. Without saying a word, she turned to look at her father, letting out another giddy squeal when he let out a small chuckle and nodded his head.

Looking back at the older boy, she couldn't stop giggling. "Thanks, Mister!" she said. "And just to let you know, you are NOT garbage. Garbage can't walk to show me where to get Pokemon, now can it?" The question came out rather sassy, but it was genuine in the way small children tend to be. However, she wasn't really anticipating any kind of answer. She just wanted her own Pokemon and now she was going to get it!

So innocent and naive children were, never quite understanding the world around them until their eyes and mind have been filled with too much. Softly, his smile widened a little more, tugging at the corners of his lips as a bell for a laugh breathed out, terse but there. "I suppose not." A child couldn't (wouldn't) understand. Light fingers intertwined with tiny ones, smaller than his own, fragile and glass-like, so easy to snap and crush with a firmer grasp. Address the father - "We'll be out momentarily" - and off they go into the whimsical wonderland of Pokemon in a frolicking skip of a step.

Creatures of all shapes and sizes, each in their own sectors of their mini-world, almost ready to be released into the flourishing island around them. Of hums and whistles and chirps and growls, of the rustling of leaves and trees to the rippling of water as fish flopped into the air and back in with a satisfying plop! and spray reflecting mini-rainbows and sunshine. Each sector of life in a colorful symphony, with Pidgey and Spearow gliding the skies, and Oddish emerging from the ground with the Diglett.

His own Swablu had taken off, joining her kind back in the reserve, melodies of the sky resonating within. "Say, what kind of Pokemon would you like?"
